The powerful Urubamba River rises in South East Peru, flowing North West through the Andes Mountains to central Peru to meet the Apurímac River and form the Ucayali River. This river is divided into Upper Urubamba and Lower Urubamba, the dividing feature being the Pongo de Mainique, an infamous whitewater canyon. The Urubamba River was very sacred to the Incas and many of the ruins lie in the valley to include the Inca City of Machu Picchu.
You will have an adrenaline rush rafting in the high rapids in the Chuqicahuana Sector, a section of the Urubamba River located at the southern end of Cusco City. We provide the best equipment and a rescue kayak through the adventure.
You will be picked up in the morning from your hotel and drive for about 1.5 hours through the Sacred Valley to Cusipata. Along the way, take in gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains until reaching the shores of the Upper Urubamba River, to the Cusipata River Camp, our private campground. Here we will leave our baggage and after rafting enjoy hot showers, toilets, sauna (during dry season only) and a comfortable dining area. Our professional rafting guides will give you a safety talk and provide you with all the proper equipment such as helmet, wet suit, spray jacket, paddle and self-bailing raft. After, we will start the adrenaline rush by zip lining down 300 meters over the river feeling your heart pumping fast. Once you reach the other side of the river you can catch your breath so we can continue the thrill. Then we will start the adventure, rafting for about 2 hours in fast rapids riding the currents as the water splashes on us. After an exhilarating time we will return to our campsite to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch and use the facilities. Thereafter, we will depart for Cusco, arriving around 4;00pm and transfer to your hotel.
