Express Huchuy Qosqo hike to Machu Picchu 2D

The Huchuy Qosqo one day hike, plus a one full day visit to Machu Picchu is the perfect alternative to the Express Inca Trail of two days. Cllimb up to at least 4,300mt/14,108ft and catch mesmerizing vistas of the gorgeous Sacred Valley below with the surrounding snow-capped Vilcanota Mountain range and the serene Vilcanota River flowing along the precious valley. Visit the Huchuy Qosqo archeological known in Quechua as, Little Cusco, sitting at 3,600mt/11,811ft above the quaint town of Lamay. After, this exciting hike, take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes to spend the night. The following day take pleasure in a full day visit of one of the Seven Wonders in World, Machu Picchu.

  • Itinerary:

    Day 1 – Cusco – Huchuy Qosqo – Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu Town)

    We will meet you in the morning at your hotel in Cusco and in private transport drive to Chinchero about 32 minutes away. Continue to Tauca, a small Andean village, to begin our exciting adventure. We´ll start our walk uphill enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery and admiring the presence of llamas, and alpacas and the pristine lagoon of Piuray. After about 2 hours we will reach the high mountain pass (4,500mt/14,760ft) to behold hypnotizing vistas of the valley below.  Gradually walking down hill along a restored Inca Trail for approximately 1 hour to the calm Andean village of Pukamarca (4,010mt/13,153ft). Thereafter, we descend towards the Leon Punku Ravine, where we find remains of an Inca bridge and trail. We will arrive to the Inca archeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo (3,600mt/11,808ft) and visit the large open ceremonial center and more. After our visit, walk down to the town of Lamay (3,000mt/9,840ft) where our transport is waiting to transfer us to the town of Ollantaytambo.  In Ollantaytambo we will take our train to Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu Town) to spend the night.

    Day 2 – Machu Picchu – Cusco

    Early morning bus to the magnificent, Machu Picchu archaeological site. Enjoy a professional guided walking tour of the extraordinary Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Three Windows features huge trapezoidal windows, Intihuatana the solar clock which translates to the, Hitching Post of the Sun, and much more.  After a glorious visit with your guide enjoy some time at leisure to further explore the mysterious grounds feeling the positive energy that abounds the area which has withstood time. Later on you will feast on a delicious lunch in the Sanctuary lodge or in Aguas Calientes. Take the bus down to Aguas Calientes to board the late afternoon train back to Poroy or the Ollantaytambo Train Station.  Arrive into the train station and private transfer to your hotel in Cusco.
